Clinic 12-7-10 update

Courtney's clinic went pretty well pfts were the best she has ever done. I am still trying to learn what all the numbers mean. She is FINALLY at the 25%tile for her weight yes this is huge for her as her Dr. said. She weight 45 lbs she didn't gain a whole pound since last time. Throat culture was still a fight but it only took 2 times so she got her Starbucks one day I know she will do it with out a fight. Doctor seems to think it was her asthma that has been causing all the trouble in the winter. We go back February 1st 2011. 

Christmas break starts a week from today. I know she will be happy because she won't have to get up at 6:00 A.M. gotta love her for doing it Monday-Friday with out a fight. She has a eye Dr appointment on the 20th, and the ENT on the 22nd she is going for her nose and also to have her hearing checked. I was just sitting here and I had this thought I wonder if her headaches are from her sinuses? No runny nose so I am wondering if they are packed? Any info on this would be great. That's all for now. Health and Christmas

As I sit here reading some of the blogs that I follow my heart just breaks, why do these kiddo's have to go through what they do? It's not fair.... As I was reading them I thought to my self that I guess we are lucky Courtney hasn't been that sick and has only been on oral antibiotics and hasn't had to be in club med for 2 years don't get me wrong I am not bragging about it because honestly I don't know how we have done it.. She goes to a public school and has since head start and this is her first year being at school all day. I guess we have taught her well about germs and it does help that she has a great teacher and has in the past, and I will be the first to admit that Courtney doesn't always get her 2 treatments in a day do I feel bad and guilty? Hell yes I do but she is very good about taking her time and she has to be in bed by 8:00 P.M. because Monday - Friday my baby is up at 6:00 A.M. for her morning treatments. I can say when she is starting to come down with something we don't miss a treatment. We have clinic on December 7th so I am hoping it's a good one, she goes to the ENT on the 22nd of December. I also tend to look at how much some of the kiddo's weight that have CF and I get so happy because there are some kiddo's out there that are younger, same age and even a little older than Courtney that weight more than Courtney. We have always struggled with her weight and let me tell you this child can eat when she wants to, she can eat a whole bean burrito no onions easy red sauce add tomatoes and sour cream.

Eric and I are doing something new this year with the girls for Christmas we have decided to set aside a certain amount of money and get the girls the Christmas gifts. It's not because we don't have the money but we both think it's time for them to realize it's not about the gift, it's about family and friends and giving. This year we are going to go help at church by serving Christmas dinner we did this for Thanksgiving and it made me feel so good to help others.

Well, My baby jut turned 7 yesterday. Where has the time gone? We did her party last weekend so last night was just family. My little girl was OK with taking time out of her special day to go help Thanksgiving Dinner to the ones that needed help. Here are some pictures of her birthday party and her special day. She asked Grandma to make her a banana cream pie for her birthday and she got it :) gotta love my kiddo. Next year her birthday is on Thanksgiving.

10-27-10 Clinic Update

Miss.Courtney has her clinic appointment today and Eric the wonderful hubby/daddy took her today. Before I update lets just say that I love that he will take her but I had a hard time today I had to text him to get a update so needless to say I had a hard time not being there.

Courtney now weighs 44.2 last time she weighed 42.6 so that is awesome, her height is 45 inches tall can't recall what it was last time but to me that child has not grown much at all. Heart Rate 116 O2 was 98% and temperature was 99.5. Yes I did send a list of questions with Eric but I didn't think he would have wrote down her heart rate so I give him credit for doing that. She got her flue shot and didn't cry they also drew blood and again she didn't cry. Now only if she would let them do throat cultures with out throwing a huge fit. She also got blooded drawn for PT, PTT and INR so I guess one of those are vitamin K levels? She gets bloody noses a lot and sometimes it takes them forever to stop. Last time we were at clinic there was talk about her sinuses. So I guess if the blood work comes back normal we will have to go see a ENT.. Eric also let the doctor know that Courtney had blood work done and blood cultures done due to having fevers off and on for 3-4 weeks she wasn't concerned or worried about the low grade temps at all.


Here is a list of questions that I sent with him and the answers I got back. 

Whats the difference between the Pari LC plus and the Pari LC sprint?- I wanted to know because I wanted to try to Pari LC sprints. Well, no such luck we have to stay with the Pari LC Plus because their is no studies on the Sprints.

Scandishakes- Courtney doesn't care for them any more so I was worried about that. We are now adding half & half in her milk.


And I knew what Courtney's CF mutations were I just wanted to made sure and they are both Delta F508. 


We go back in 6 weeks so that makes December 7th. If Courtney can keep up with what she is doing I think we can avoid club med this winter so I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying..  Courtney was up at 5:00 A.M. to get a hour of treatment before clinic and she didn't take a nap so she was out like a light. I give that child lots of kuddos she is up at 6:00 A.M. Monday-Friday for treatments.. She gets to sleep in on Saturday and do treatments after breakfast and on Sunday's treatment is usually done after church but I think I am going to change that she can get up at 7:00 A.M.

I love having DVR since we have had it I don't like watching live T.V. and if I do I will pause it for awhile because I don't like commercials. Almost all the shows that I have recording are all new episodes...

Well, I finally got around to reading the blogs I follow so here is my flash me Friday.

Does it ever end?

     Where shall I start? Courtney had her CF clinic appointment today. That meant she had to get up a hour earlier than normal so she was up at 5:00 A.M. so she could do a hour of treatment and then eat and get dressed. Well even though she got up when she did and I got up at 4:30 A.M. we still some how left the house late and so there for we were late for her appointment but only like 10 minutes. That's when it all went up and down hill. She weighs 42.6 lbs so she gained 1 pound in 2 months I will take that but I wish it would have been more since it's getting that time of year again. Her doctor thinks her cough is more allergy and asthma related but want to finish her antibiotics and she is on Orapred 2 times a day of three days and she is now going to be taking a total of 40 mgs of Prilosec 20 mg 2 times a day. Her doctor had also asked me if she has ever had sinus surgery and then when I replied with no the next question was has she ever had a CT scan of her sinus, I felt like saying her chart is right there look but I didn't. I replied back with I think so and I think it was over a year ago when she was in the hospital so we may be looking at a CT scan and or sinus surgery. Not what I wanted to hear. She had a throat culture done today and bless her little heart she said can't I just get a shot instead. Well, her throat culture got done but 2 tries and I swear like 15-20 minutes later we finally got it. She signed a contract with her doctor saying by the time she goes back she will be able to spit for her sputum culture. We were also told that she can do her Pulmozyme when she is doing her vest. I was a happy mommy to hear this. She now has to do her Advair with a spacer with just the mouth piece. We go back in 6 weeks instead of 8 weeks and I don't know how I feel about that one. She is also running a fever 99.7 at clinic and that's what it seems to be hanging at so I kept her home and my poor baby hasn't had a chance to rest.

     The school is giving me a hard time because I am wanting a 504 plan for her and not a health care plan. School nurse called me today saying this and that and trying to tell me a 504 was like a IEP and I told her very nicely I don't think so I know what a IEP is for because my oldest has one. I think it's because they don't want to do all the paper work!!!! The nurse sent Courtney's health care plan home with her last week from last year and I about had to laugh because it was a joke granted it had what I needed in there but a lot of other BS!!!! Well, I am off to spend time with my girls before dinner time and treatments.

WOW

What a week it has been. Courtney is on a antibiotic for her cough. That child can never be normal lol. Her cough is off and on and lately when she has been coughing it sounds like it's getting worse, she told me tonight she just didn't feel very very very very very well. She hasn't had a fever so that is a good thing and we go to clinic on Tuesday my poor baby will have to get up at 5:00 A.M. just to get treatment done and be able to eat she is gonna be a tired little girl and I bet you any thing she will ask to go to school.
     I on the other hand have had a headache for 4 days and I can finally say I think it may be all the way gone. I just still have soreness in my neck and shoulder but hey I will take that over the headache any day. We are headed to Michigan Monday morning for the day with some friends so that should be fun. It's suppose to be warm so lets hope so. I just have to find my camera so I can take some pictures. Well that's about it for now. I will try to update either Tuesday night or Wednesday about our day trip and also how her clinic appointment went. Hope you all are having a fun and safe weekend. To all the kiddo's, adults that are feeling the best you will all be in my prayers and hope you all start feeling better quickly.

Sour Apples

That is the name that Courtney's team decided on today why in line to get soccer pictures done. I have to say they all played there little hearts out today but I am sad in a way since coaching Courtney's team I have to be on the field why they play and also tend to the kiddo's that are out and also tie shoes why on the field. Well, why doing one of those things I missed out seeing my baby make her first goal ever. I didn't know she had made one until I was looking of the score card. My mama said that after Courtney had made the goal and make it back down to the other half of the field that she ran over there and said grandma did you see that goal I made, or something close to that. Don't get me wrong I enjoying being a coach especially on game day but I have decided that after this season I am going back to a sideline mom/coach. Courtney told me she wanted to play in the spring I am hoping that she will do that and maybe even do next fall so Eric can be her coach for once and that way Dezi can have some one else as a coach. Don't get me wrong Eric is a awesome coach but I think it's time Dezi has someone else. 
     I planned on Courtney playing 3 quarters today but she ended up playing 2.5 quarters because it was getting hot out side and also because I could tell that she was starting to breathe a lot harder that normally even when she is at practice. She got up at 6 this morning and did a hour of treatment and she was coughing last night and through out the day today :( .

This evening as I was getting telling her that is was treatment time she was doing this and then gave it to me.

Need less to say that she was trying to get out of treatment but it didn't work I just turned her vest down a little bit. Lets hope she doesn't cough to much tonight. She will be up early again tomorrow morning to do treatment as we have church but she will get to sleep until 7 instead of 6. Not sure how that girl can still be going at night but once her head hits the pillow she is asleep.

Quick update on Courtney

Courtney had her first soccer game ever today. Needless to say we all got soak but Courtney never gave up or complained. She ran as fast as her little legs would let her. I am so proud of her and her team even though they lost 11-7 but that's OK they had a great time. Needless to say she took a shower when she got home and ate lunch and then did a hour of treatment.. I love and hate this time of year!!!! Courtney is starting to couch more often so we have bumped up her treatments. We will keep a eye on it and go from there. Why does CF have to rear it's ugly head so soon??? I know there are more lil ones that have it more rough then Courtney but still!!!!!! As I sit here typing this I can hear her cough I guess it's time for a breathing treatment and then dinner and then nebs and vest and then off to bed since we all are going to church in the morning.... On a quick note she has been really good about getting up at 6:30 to do treatments. We let her sleep in a little bit on Friday morning and all I have to say is NEVER AGAIN she had the worse attitude. Have a great weekend or what's left of it.

Wow is all I can say. It's been busy. Courtney is loving school. After school on the first day she told me "mommy we don't really have play time like in kindergarten" so I asked her if that was a good or bad thing and she said "mommy that is a good thing we have more time for learning" Wow does my child love school and her teacher. I am just hoping that she gets the challenge that she needs. Don't get me wrong she still needs to practice writing so her letters don't float. I am wondering if now we should have put her in the Key program which is just advanced. Thursday, Friday and Monday she didn't have a hard time getting up at 6:45 A.m. to do treatment which surprised me. Today well her alarm went off and the lil bugger turned it off and tried to go back to sleep but this mama didn't let her. She loves her teacher and so far I am liking her teacher too we have open house so we will talk and then I will touch base with her most likely on Wednesdays. Courtney's teacher has a lil boy that is a CF carrier and part of me wonders if that is why she was placed with this teacher. Here are some pics from the first day of school.

Wow

This was taken a few weekends ago. She had her own small Starbucks and drank it so then she wanted a drink of mine.

It's hard to believe that summer break is officially over. The girls first day of school is tomorrow. This mama is having tons of mixed emotions. I know Courtney will do awesome but when she was in head start it was only a half of day and she had a awesome nurse that I wish would come to her school, last year well all I can say is that I was happy it was only half a day the school nurse wasn't all that and I didn't care for her and it didn't help she could follow the simple things I had asked. This year the school has a new nurse so I am hoping that she is good. We didn't do much over summer break due to money and Eric having to work. That's OK I still think they both enjoyed it. I will post pictures tomorrow of the first day of school. I am still not sure what I am going to do with my time, maybe go back to school or get a part time job...
